Sidsel Lehn Mehlsen (b. 1994, Aarhus) is a visual artist and artistic researcher exploring the notion of belonging. Working across photography, ceramics, video, and writing, she examines spatial and temporal dimensions of domesticity, intimacy, and estrangement. In foregrounding processes of identity formation and agency, Mehlsen examines the relational and mnemonic dimensions of attachment, investigating how place and memory intertwine through material and conceptual forms—while also unraveling into moments of disorientation and alienation. Blending phenomenological inquiry with an aesthetic syntax rooted in magical realism, her work seeks to articulate the affective economies that shape interior worlds, tracing how belonging can both anchor and estrange the self within shifting emotional and spatial terrains.
